About Scott Patton

title-line

Scott Patton has one main objective with his art. It is to create inspiring and beautiful paintings that bring value to people and their spaces. Whether the genre is nautical, western, nature or figurative, Patton’s work tells wonderful stories that evoke emotions.

From an early age of around seven the passion and gifting began to emerge, even if it was only a teacher’s raised eyebrow at a funny sketch he did. Scott’s high school art teacher noticed that he put more effort into his projects than most. For many years after high school, however, his desire for artistic expression was nearly suffocated with competing ambitions and the calling was nothing more than a faint whisper. However, Patton’s education continued into his college years at the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University.

S A Patton is essentially visual communicator. He speaks through images and real life drama and has been given a special eye for the beautiful, fascinating and awe-inspiring things that comprise our world. He only paints subjects that meet a very strict set of requirements and considers each painting a composition, not unlike a symphony orchestra or motion picture. The objective of many of his compositions is to convey messages that provoke powerful emotions such as inspiration, longing or compassion that make lasting impressions on the beholder. Other works of his are on the lighter end of the art spectrum and touch the whimsical and colorful. Educated in art exclusively by his father, Patton grew up witnessing a true master weave light, objects and truth into the most marvelous works of art.

Never content to crank out vague, mundane works, he desires to impart a higher level of consciousness, which ultimately brings out the best of the beholder. He is content to paint a limited quanity works per year and this has a strong appeal for collectors.

“Listing art shows, awards or formal education in order to increase sales is not consistent with my vision,” he explains. “That is for commerce. This career is not about money. This is about the Immortal speaking and us listening.” S A Patton lets his compositions speak on his behalf. Merely producing and selling paintings is not how he believes his gift will have the greatest impact. “It is the message; the story that the painting tells that is meant to strike blows to the heart, inspiring change. That is the objective of much of my art. If many of my paintings do not bring the viewers closer to their God, then my work has failed. If the viewers of my art are not smitten with a greater desire for the Divine, a greater sense of responsibility, a healthier perspective; if they do not at least offer a glimpse of the Creator’s magnificent being then I have not found my life’s work after all,” he explains. “I do not want my art to hang on the walls of smug, uncaring people who don’t desire to lift people higher or where it’s message cannot be heard loud and clear. Other artists can create those works.”

Patton now resides in beautiful Sarasota Florida with his wife and two sons as a full-time artist where he is constantly pushing the boundaries of his knowledge and skills with experimentation and execution.

In 2023, Scott realized that if he was ever going to fulfill what he believed his assignment was, he’d better get serious! So with a mustard seed of faith and a burning desire to see his gift finally emerge, he began to paint. Much rust and many barnacles had to be broken off, but after a few weeks he found his stride! And with each painting Scott saw improvements in his skills.
